Mexican and Domestic Rock Shrimp, (Sicyonia brevirostris), are a deep water shrimp. The crustacean gets its name from its rock hard shell. Rock Shrimp are harvested from the east coast of Florida, south through the Gulf of Mexico to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The harvest season is from late summer to mid Winter. Rock Shrimp have a hard, spiny shell similar to the shell of a lobster. Rock Shrimp have a sweet flavor and texture much like the lobster. The wide variety of uses for the Rock Shrimp with its rich taste make it an excellent choice. Rock Shrimp can be fried, steamed, boiled, marinated, broiled with lemon butter or sautéed and served over your favorite pasta. .
